 1.  THE BACKGROUND
On Saturday, October 6, 2007 thirty-seven June 1959 Taft Classmates and an additional seventeen guests gathered at a quaint private club for what we came to call a “Mini-Taft Reunion”. Many of us hadn’t seen one another in almost fifty years.   Needless to say, we had a great time!

Reconnecting with friends and former classmates is what the evening was all about.  Even with only thirty-seven classmates in attendance, there just wasn’t enough time to spend with everyone you wanted to visit with and catch up on what has taken place in their lives for the past 50 years.   All agreed the evening was too short and that we should do another “Mini-Reunion” next year (1) and not wait until September 2009 to see one another again.

 (1) Which we are planning for  the first week in October, 2008. . .
Put it on your planner - NOW !   Specific details will be available in May 2008.

2.  THE ENCOURAGEMENT
Another idea emerged from subsequent discussions with Taft Reunion Committee...    Why wait to reconnect?   We could publish “Personal Profile’s” of classmates on the website for all to read and see before we gather again.  Our conversations at the next classmate gathering would not have to start from scratch and all agreed it could make for some even richer discussions when we see each other again.

Our 1959 Class President & Chairman of our 50th Reunion Celebration, Larry Marsh, challenged each of the reunion committee members to submit their “Personal Profile’s” to be published on the website as examples and to jump-start our classmate’s efforts.

"Personal Profiles" has everything to do with reconnecting with classmates:
  (a) Finding common interests and experiences that took place over the years.
  (b) Sharing the ups and downs of almost fifty years.
  (c) Having richer conversations when we see one another again.   It can also serve as kind of a
“Mall Map” on just who you must talk to before the reunion event is over.

3.  THE HOW TO

“Personal Profile”(2)  was the term we used to describe a 500 word essay on; So what have you done with yourself since high school?”  Along with the write up we encouraged all classmates submitting a profile to include 5 of their favorite pictures over the past years.  When you have completed your own “Personal Profile”, found your 5 favorite pictures & scanned them into digital photos, (This can be done at all national pharmacy locations.).  Email your completed profile & attached digital pictures to:  freda16@aol.com .

TIP:  The best way to decide on what to write in your own “Personal Profile” would be to read one or all twelve of the Reunion Committee Member Profiles that are published on Taft Reunion website.   Click-On the RED Button next to the name shown on the panel on the right.  Review Reunion Committee Samples to get an idea how you might want to create your own personal profile. (Note:  You are not restricted to 500 words it’s a guideline and is approximately one page of text.   The website can handle up to three pages of text in 12 point type).

4.  THE DIFFERENCE
Classmate Profiles WILL NOT replace the currently planned 50th Anniversary "Memory Book" because "Personal Profiles" are approximately 500 word essays focused on what was important to you and what you would like to share with classmates, along with 5 of your favorite pictures over the last 50 years.   And it will be posted on our "Taft Reunion 1959" website for classmates to review before our next gathering.

With classmate completion of the "Memory Book" fill-in-the-blanks questionnaires we hope to publish a printed 1959 YEARBOOK... FIFTY YEARS LATER!   A compilation of June 1959 Class statistics, accomplishments, insights and learning’s both as individuals and as a group who shared a very special time in history.
